And Also with Y'All

Hosted by the Rev. James Franklin, the Rev. Caleb Tabor and Eliza Brinkley, And Also With Y'all features engaging conversations about faith, spirituality, discernment, doubt and everything in between. The hosts and their guests talk frankly about the serious and the ridiculous young adults encounter as they navigate their faith.
Welcome to Season 3 of And Also With Y'all! We're excited to bring you a new theme: Finding Foundations. Why "Finding Foundations"? Because when you find yourself in the front half of life, you find yourself in (fill in the blank). When faced with multiple “firsts” -- big and small -- young adults are challenged to make defining decisions about who they are, who they want to be, what kind of life they want to lead, what kinds of people and what kinds of things they want in their life, and where faith, God and the calling to a Christian life might fit in it all. Featured guests will share their stories about how those first experiences have shaped their being and journey of faith in young adulthood. Thanks a lot for listening! In this episode, we check in with Mawethu Ncaca as part 2 of "checking in with the curates." Mawethu opens up about his spiritual landscape growing up in South Africa. We caught up on how life has been in ministry during the pandemic and what keeps him grounded. Learn more about the curates and their ministry at reimaginingcuracies.org/the- What is a "curate"? In this episode, Caleb and James catch up with Amanda and Philip - two of the three folks in the Reimagining Curacies program. They currently serve parishes in Chapel Hill and Durham. More info on the program can be found at: https:// Co-host Eliza Brinkley chats with Lindsey and Don Porter, who have been figuring out how to parent two young children during school closures. As government and educational leaders begin to announce reopening plans for school in the fall--many of which include remote learning for all or some of the school year--parents will be facing challenges similar to those they faced in the spring. The Porters share these challenges and discuss how faith itself and the ministry of the church provide much-needed support to families during this time of uncertainty. Chaplain Caleb Tabor of Raleigh ECM and Chaplain Laura Brekke Wagoner of Davis and Elkins College touch on life during the pandemic, what it means to engage in self-examination in the spiritual life, the importance of an evolving faith, why religion is important in a modern life, and where God is in the midst of social chaos. In this episode of Distancing Diaries, Eliza Brinkley chats with Jack Kittrell, who is employed at a biomedical engineering company in Raleigh. Jack shares a little about his experience social distancing and what his schedule has been like as an essential worker, as well as his upbringing in the Episcopal Church, his return to church life through Raleigh ECM, and how his work and faith intertwine. Chaplain Caleb Tabor of Raleigh Episcopal Campus and Young Adult Ministries has a conversation with Mary Houston, a licensed social worker for psychiatric emergencies in the UNC-CH Hospital's Emergency Medicine Department. They discuss what it is to be an essential worker on the front lines in a medical context and how to stay grounded in a stressful and extraordinary time. In this two-part episode, co-host Eliza checks in with fellow teacher, friend and roommate, Taylor. They speak of her religious upbringing and how her current faith community is guiding how she navigates life amidst social distancing. The lovely music you are hearing is from "Pastoral" by Elliot Middleton. In this two-part episode, co-host Eliza checks in with fellow teacher, friend and roommate, Taylor. In this first episode, James spoke with Ann, a young adult in Charlotte, about finding community and wrestling with the question, "What does God want me to do with my life?" The conversation focused on Ann's experience of walking the Camino de Santiago de Compostela and how hiking a path is allegory for navigating this central question in young adulthood. In this pilot episode, recorded live at the 204th Annual Diocesan Convention, we spoke with college students from around the state. They reflected a portion of the young adult voice at convention and shared their opinions about diversity, Cosmic Christ and finding belonging in their worshiping communities.Season 3 Preview: Finding Foundations
