The Diocese Welcomes the Rev. Maryann D. Younger

The Diocese welcomes the Rev. Maryann D. Younger as the new rector of St. Philip's, Durham. Younger is a second-career priest, with much of her working life dedicated to Montessori-style children’s education and nonprofit leadership. She earned her undergraduate degree from Purdue University.
Before hearing the call to ordained ministry and attending seminary, Maryann spent many years as a lay leader whose responsibilities included pastoral care, preaching, designing worship and empowering lay ministers. Maryann was ordained a transitional deacon in 2019, and, after graduating from The General Theological Seminary in 2020, she was ordained to the priesthood.
Everliving God, strengthen and sustain Maryann, that with patience and understanding she may love and care for your people; and grant that together they may follow Jesus Christ, offering to you their gifts and talents; through him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
