The Diocese Welcomes the Rt. Rev. Scott Benhase to St. Cyprian's, Oxford
The Diocese of North Carolina welcomes the Rt. Rev. Scott Benhase as the new vicar of St. Cyprian's, Oxford. Benhase most recently served as the 10th bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Georgia, elected in September 2009. A major initiative of his episcopacy was the Campaign for Congregational Development, a capital campaign raising funds to enhance capacity in congregational growth and development, in clergy and lay leadership, and in the formation of youth and young adults.
Prior to his election as the bishop of the Diocese of Georgia, Benhase served in a number of congregations, including St. Philip's, Durham. Many of his calls were in urban areas, where he worked to encourage integrated witness in local neighborhoods.
