Haiti

The road from Leogane to Jacmel in southern Haiti climbs 4000 ft and run through the watersheds of Cormeir and Gro Mon. Fifteen years ago it was a journey through desolation, poverty had stripped the hills of vegetation, erosion its soil and hunger was the norm.

Go today - and you can - and the hills of the watersheds are green, vivatar grass terracing hold the land, eucalyptus trees nurse coffee, mango, chocolate, and beans - provide fuel and construction timber. Cisterns hold clean water, springs are reappearing making fish pond and protein for the self motivating teams of Haitiens who plant and work and volunteer to build a future for themselves and their children.

The children - two schools - a 3-month-long summer school where the tuition is 2 bags of compost and 200 plus children are fed and nourished. Schools where God's love is taught, hope is nourished and seedling trees are raised - along with future project leaders - to ensure the work and the greening will continue.

Our founder Jack Hannah's vision has come to pass in a Presbyterian/Episcopalian project called CODEP which means a mission house , missioners Rodney and Sharon Babe who make it happen, and 600 plus Haitiens who together labour in one of the world toughest vineyards. They labour with help from --

Haiti Fund is a non profit organization which provides financial and physical sustenance to CODEP; from a network of 60 plus multi denominational churches and volunteer groups who lend their expertise and witness to God's love for this place and it's people.

This is a renewable, self sustaining, agricultural development project where nothing is free and much is earned. To learn more visit our web site at Haiti Fund Inc.org or contact us at Haiti Fund Inc. P.O.Box 1075, New Bern, NC 28563-1075. Ask for Beverley - she could change your life.
