Mission: To carry our diocesan missionary vision of making disciples, making a difference, around the globe through acts of hospitality and transformative assistance.
Goal: To accomplish this mission by establishing enduring intentional relationships between parishes in the Diocese of North Carolina and Anglican parishes and institutions in developing countries.
Action Plan: To encourage every parish in the diocese to commit to at least one of the overseas outreach opportunities adopted by the Chartered Committee on Global Mission:
- To collect and transport requested supplies.
- To allocate money from the parish budget or a fundraising effort for at least one of the designated initiatives.
- To establish a parish-to-parish relationship as described in the designated initiatives.
- To support fellow NC parishes in their global mission work by providing either funds or volunteers. Creating partnerships with fellow parishes to meet a global mission commitment.
Designated Initiatives for the Chartered Committee on Global Mission:
- To continue to participate in the Companion Diocese program of the Episcopal Church.
- To encourage parish-to-parish relationships between congregations in our diocese and those in dioceses throughout the Anglican Communion.
- At the invitation of Anglican bishops in developing countries, to encourage parish involvement with missions which reflect the UN Millennium Development Goals.
- To encourage parish-level support of the work of Episcopal Relief and Development.
