Timeline for 193rd Annual Convention
Notice is hereby given that the 193rd Annual Convention of the Diocese of North Carolina will be held at the Benton Convention Center, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, from Friday, January 23, 2009, through Saturday, January 24, 2009.
Apportionment of Lay Delegates. Please find enclosed a table indicating the apportionment of lay delegates. The apportionment formula is specified in Canon 1, Section 2, and is based on the three-year average of adult communicants in good standing as derived from data reported in your 2005, 2006, and 2007 parochial reports.
Roster of Continuing Lay Delegates. I enclose a list of delegates whose terms continue through 2009 and 2010 as indicated on last year’s certificates of election.
Certificate of Election. A form for Certification of Election of Lay Delegates is enclosed. Delegates shall be elected by the vestry for terms of three years. Alternates shall be elected for terms of one year. Elections should take place at the August or September vestry meeting. Delegates elected to fill vacancies shall be elected for the remainder of the unexpired term being filled. Please complete and return the Certificate of Election no later than Friday, September 26, 2008.
Certification of Change in Lay Delegation. The enclosed Certification of Change in Lay Delegation must be used to report any changes in your lay delegation between the time of filing of the Certificate of Election and registration at the Convention site.
